#1: Plow snow
Tired of waiting for the city or county to plow your roads in the winter? You can plow the snow yourself on your ATV. Purchase a blade for your ATV, and you’ll have the driveway and sidewalks uncovered in no time. Blades can be purchased in either steel or poly and come in a range of lengths so you can customize your snow plowing experience to the width of your driveway. Put on your coat, boots, hat, and gloves, and get out there! You’re all set for winter.
#2: Put salt down
Once you get the snow plowed off the driveway, put some salt down to keep the surface from freezing up. You can do that with your ATV by attaching a spreader to the back end. While you’re out there, you might even want to put some salt down at the neighbors’ houses. You’ll have more friends than anyone else in the neighborhood!
#3: Pull or drag heavy items
Attach a winch to your ATV, and you can pull or drag about anything. A winch is one of the most useful implements for your ATV because you can do so much with it. Did a big tree fall over in the wind? Cut it up and drag the logs to a brush pile using your winch. Then come back, attach a chain to the stump, and pull that out, too. All this can be done on your ATV. There’s no need to call someone to do it when you can do the job yourself.
A winch is also great to have if you get another vehicle stuck in the mud or sand. Your ATV will pull it right out!
#4: Rake the yard
Homeowners with large yards love this one. Attach a landscape rake, and go to town! Not literally, of course. But you can rake a large patch of grass fairly quickly with a heavy-duty rake on the back of your ATV. This is great for yards that have a lot of mature trees that drop leaves, acorns, and seed pods in the fall.
#5: Plow a garden bed
Country dwellers might want to speed up the garden bed prep process. That can be done with a disc plow attachment. Hook it up to your ATV, and you’ll avoid the backaches associated with breaking up dirt clods and getting your garden bed ready for planting.
#6: Haul garden tools and landscaping materials
Putting in a new flower bed or patio? How are you going to get those landscaping stones from the car to the designated spot in the yard? If you have a small trailer, you’ll be in business. Most ATVs have significant towing power. Load up the trailer and haul all your tools, rocks, and plantings at once. You’ll save a lot of time and labor this way.
#7: Move sand or gravel
Building a sandbox for the kiddos? Attach a dump bucket to your ATV to haul sand from the truck to the sandbox. A dump bucket is also great if you live in the country and have a gravel driveway. Haul in fresh gravel with your ATV, and dump it right where you need it. You can even use the landscape rake (mentioned previously) to rake it smooth.
Whatever you’re trying to do around the yard, you can probably use your ATV for the job. We’ve listed just a few of the ways in which ATVs can help make your life easier, but there are many different types of implements and accessories that work with ATVs. Whether you live in the city or the country, you can use your ATV to speed up the job so you can get out there and hit the trails. After all, that’s really what you bought it for, right?
